About me
Hi, I’m Tim, an experienced mental health worker and academic with a love for words, writing, performing, and editing.
I’m based in East Riding of Yorkshire, UK.
I set up Cartographink to bring together these fields of practice. Writing has saved my bacon more than once, both professionally and emotionally. I would like to share this benefit with others and do more of what I love.
Why Cartographink?
Cartography – mapmaking, and ink – the means to make the map. Writing is mapmaking for me. It helps me to chart my position, spot difficulties and figure out how to live with, avoid, or overcome them, to find my way through new territory, and get where I want to be. As someone with ADHD, one of my traits is seeing the connections between things. If I know what’s out there, I can find routes between, through, over, under, and around obstacles. We all have those bits of our own personal maps where the legend “here be dragons” covers an expanse of unknown and perhaps scary terrain. It can be beneficial to chart these areas, making friends with the dragons (or discovering there are none), or making good our escape.
